Israel Keyes was born on January 1, 1978 in Cache County, UT… we think. He was born at home to parents living off the grid, and his birth does not appear to have been recorded; the first time he existed on paper was when he joined the Army at 20 years old. Calling him “difficult to track down” would be a vast understatement.
He was also a serial bank robber and arsonist suspected of killing eleven people, often traveling across state lines to conceal his crimes. So finding out where he was on any given day might be very important.
A lot of records have been published in the form of FBI press releases and FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) disclosures. Our researchers sorted through several thousand pages and published the most exhaustive Israel Keyes Timeline we have seen to date, including detailed citations that can be used to verify the research.
For those of us who are visual thinkers, though, reading a list of dates and locations can seem a bit abstract. We are pleased to announce that the information is now available in the form of a Google Map.
Our purpose in sharing this information is to generate further dialogue about the Israel Keyes case in the spirit of collaborative research. This map should not be considered a definitive resource... we are not affiliated with any legal entity and have no authority beyond that of standard civilians. We make no claims as to the completeness or accuracy of the records we have found, though we do intend to update our map as new information becomes available. Please let us know about any errors you spot by emailing us at lastknowncontact@gmail.com.
If you have information that is relevant to his case, we strongly encourage you to contact the proper authorities, not civilian journalists or podcasters. Tips can be submitted via the FBI's electronic tip form (please note: knowingly submitting false tips may be a federal felony).
Please do not contact anyone who has been personally affected by Israel Keyes. He is the only person responsible for his actions, and the people who knew him deserve to live their lives free of harassment or interference.
